The Life Models’ Society (LMS) was formed in 1989 to provide a means for life models to get to know each other, and as a support group to standardise rates of pay and to improve our working conditions. Although we do not have the resources to act as a booking agency, we publish a list of available artists’ models which is sent to all our subscribers, and updated several times a year.
It is a condition of the LMS that all applicants for membership should attend a workshop, at which they will be assessed on criteria which include professional conduct and attitude. This also gives them an opportunity to decide whether working as a life model is what they really want to do. Models who have already had considerable experience tell us that they thoroughly enjoy the workshop they attended. For many it was the first chance they had ever had to compare notes with other models and talk about their work.
The LMS is an incorporated entity with an elected Committee of seven people. All committee members are paid members of the LMS. All members have the right to vote in the election of committee members, attend the Annual General Meeting, vote for committee members, and attend other Social events conducted by the LMS.
On this website you will find out information about Life Modelling and the LMS, contributions from other Life Model Society members and the contact details for the LMS.
